Windows XP
Before windows 7 came along, XP was the OS of choice for most people and is one i am sure many of you are familiar. For me, this was the best windows available; although windows 7 is nice and does offer a wide range of features, XP offers a great range of compatibility and on older systems offers much faster speeds than its clunky counterpart. No major issues with XP immediately spring to mind but as it is/was so mainstream, a great deal of viruses are out which target the system hence the need for users to purchase or download anti-virus software. although i have now migrated to ubuntu, windows XP would be my port of call if i absolutely had to swap back.
As many users are already familiar with XP i do not intend to add too much information to this page. I will however provide useful links to those wishing to improve computer security and performance.
iobit advanced system care: a useful utility with many features, download it and have a tinker with it and see if you like it.
game booster: although included within in advanced system cares tool set, it deserves a separate mention. This app will kill any unwanted background processes freeing up masses of ram without any adverse effects. there is also a reverse feature which automatically restores any killed processes.
